W.P. Franklin Lock on the Caloosahatchee River, Florida - Note the big alligator on the bank in the middle of the picture. It's not uncommon to see around 5 or 6 of them, as I did on one afternoon. One of the gators was around 12 feet long in my estimation. Want to go for a swim? The grass is actually the very backyard of one of the houses on the river. We camped just a short distance behind where I stood for the photo.
